openstack client: "__init__() got an unexpected keyword argument 'project_name'"

asked 2016-11-18 03:32:08 -0600

This is on devstack, the Newton master branch:

$ openstack help floating ip delete
__init__() got an unexpected keyword argument 'project_name'
$ openstack help network list
__init__() got an unexpected keyword argument 'project_name'
$ openstack help server list
usage: openstack server list [-h] [-f {csv,json,table,value,yaml}] [-c COLUMN] (...)
$ openstack help port list
usage: openstack port list [-h] [-f {csv,json,table,value,yaml}] [-c COLUMN] (...)
$ openstack help notacommand
Unknown command [u'notacommand']

The help of some OSC commands is broken. It doesn't matter if I do that as admin or demo user. The same error message is mentioned in a probably unrelated bug that was fixed for OSC 3.0.0; my OSC version is 3.3.0.

Is this another bug? A devstack misconfiguration? Is there a workaround?

that should work fine, paste the command that arent working. I see in your question you have executed some commands that are not valid

openstack help notacommand is deliberately invalid. I wanted to see how the OSC reacts when I issue an invalid command. It reacts as expected. The output of the first two commands, however, is not as expected.

The problem is a bug in the python-openstackclient project: https://bugs.launchpad.net/python-openstackclient/+bug/1650026 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/python-ope...).

The last comment in the bug was: "This issue was fixed in the openstack/python-openstackclient 3.8.0 release".

This is it.
