Hi, I have installed a three node Openstack with Mitaka using RDO. 1 Controller + Compute Node, 1 Compute Node, 1 Network Node. There is no issue while installation and able to lunch the instances too with out any issue. But after lunching the instance when I am started working on the instance the Load is picking very high on the instance as well ont the controller node too. The same configuration I have tested with Liberty and faced the similar issue. But I am already running another configuration with Kilo and its running perfect with out any issue.

Configuation: Controller + Compute Node: 8 vCPUs 10 GB RAM 20 GB Swap

Dedicated Compute Node: 8 vCPUs 10 GB RAM 20 GB Swap

Dedicated Network Node: 2 vCPUs 4 GB RAM 8 GB Swap

Request you to please let me know if need to fine tune anything on any of the configuration.

Regards, Amar

you need to find out what causes the high load. Run the top command to get clues.

Hey Amar,

The specs for your servers are quite low and there is no detail in your question regarding the instance that you are spinning up. You will want to use traditional/basic troubleshooting tools to get some data on your environment - top as Bernd mentioned - vmstat, systat, etc.

so, have you run top yet? Both on the instance and on the controller. It's important to know which process(es) use(s) the CPU. Also, there might be log file entries on the controller that point to the cause.

This question is about a version of OpenStack which has been designated End Of Life - https://releases.openstack.org/ If you're still experiencing the problem with a more recent release, please reopen, or make a new ticket with updated details. Thanks!
