if i lost initial template used for the heat stack-creation, when I do the stack-update on this stack but can not get the initial template used then i will lose the ability to do the stack update?

i did not see any possibility to do the stack update without the template if the template will not be changed.

The --existing parameter to heat stack-update or openstack stack update will do a stack update that retains the existing parameters, template and environment except for any changes you explicitly pass.

You can also download the current template for a stack using the heat template-show or openstack stack template show commands. (Note that the template returned is serialised as JSON, so you'll lose the original YAML formatting and any YAML comments.)
