[ERROR] /opt/devstack/functions-common:1077 Failed to update apt repos, we're dead now

A error encounter to me in openstack controller node when I deployed multi-node lab

here's the log

I also met this problem today, I solved it as follow:

@ubuntu1604:~/devstack$ sudo vim functions-common

and then search word "dead" until you get here:

if ! timeout 300 sh -c "while ! $update_cmd; do sleep 30; done"; then
        die $LINENO "Failed to update apt repos, we're dead now"

Modify the timeout 300 to 1000, save and exit, re-run ./stack.sh.

I get it, maybe do this

sudo rm -rf /var/lib/apt/lists/* -vf
sudo apt-get update
