Perhaps consider http://www.mirantis.com

It's very easy to get Openstack running using their virtualbox/fuel solution

Even I am new to this. Here is what I did. I created 2 VM's with 1 NIC each in VMWare player installed Ubuntu 14.0 and followed the instructions that are mentioned in http://docs.openstack.org: http://docs.openstack.org/mitaka/install-guide-ubuntu/ (http://docs.openstack.org/mitaka/inst...)

1 VM has Compute installed on it and rest all components are installed on the other VM. off course, this needs a lot of resources so if you are trying to install on your desktop, you need good amount of physical RAM in your desktop. I have assigned 4GB of RAM to each VM.

If you want to use CentOS you can try RDO with Packstack: https://www.rdoproject.org/install/qu...

Hi,

If you want to install it on your desktop. i would say the best & easiest way to do is install Packstack on a virtual box. its easy & quick. all you need is 4GB of RAM & at least 20GB of disk space with good internet access. I have tested it on CentOS & it well well. here is the link & also i am sharing one video which you might like it & can easily install..

Video link--- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOlIB323c8s (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOlIB...)

Thanks Partha

You can deploy openstack environment on various host OS, for me the easiest is using ubuntu trusty server image. If okay with you, go ahead download ubuntu server ISO from http://www.ubuntu.com/download/server and create a Virtualbox VM with 4KRAM and 20GB storage.

Then, if you want to get a first-look on openstack, you can deploy openstack on the ubuntu VM you created. Read and follow steps on http://docs.openstack.org/mitaka/install-guide-ubuntu/ (http://docs.openstack.org/mitaka/inst...)

If you want to try some code change, you can deploy openstack development environment on the ubuntu VM you created. Read and follow steps on http://docs.openstack.org/developer/devstack/ (http://docs.openstack.org/developer/d...)

Good luck

Just for fun try TripleO QuickStart vs Official UBUNTU's DOCS.

Devstack will provide you set up running a bunch hardly restart-able openstack daemons which might be good only for testing the most recent commits in upstream git repos.

Any Openstack deployment presumes reading by configuration utility ( packstack or TripleoO ) configuration files and setup required services on each node mentioned in config files along with proper vlans set up (TripleO/TripleO QuickStart )

See https://www.rdoproject.org/install/qu...

Easiest way to install openstack services is "Devstack" .

You can configure and install openstack by following below link-

http://docs.openstack.org/developer/devstack/ (link text)
