Openstack/Neutron has limitation(?) on allowing the same VM to have multiple interfaces on the same network

I have an NFV use case where 2 vNICs from the same VM needs to be attached to the same network. Is this supported? refers to "allow_duplicate_networks" flags on nova.conf and neutron.conf , but these flags disappeared from recent nova.conf reference guides (I can find it in juno/kilo reference guides).

Any NFV-ers out there doing this sort of stuff successfully that can confirm or deny the existence of this ability (as it might save me days of experimenting) ? :)
