Cinder volume got unmounted after running command to stop & start the instance it was attached to

Here are what I did:

  1. I booted an instance with image and attached a cinder volume to it.

  2. ssh into the instance and mount the cinder volume to a local mount point. ($sudo mount /dev/vdb /tmp/cinderVol)

  3. Stop the instance, then start it.

  4. ssh into the instance and the "df -ha" shows that cinder volume is not mounted.

    I dont know if it is a normal behavior or it is because my mounting procedure. Thanks!

It is normal behavior. Any disk or volume you want to have available after boot will need an entry in /etc/fstab.
