Containerization of Openstack

asked 2016-06-25 13:33:45 -0600

Could somebody let me know a good resource to help install and run Openstack in docker containers...starting with creating a new image and installing the apps inside. I'd like to have a at least 4 working containers that are running like a controller node, network node, storage node, and compute node.

Hi SpacemanSpiff,

Running OpenStack inside Docker containers by yourself is going to be a headache fighting against how to orchestrate containers, systemd issues, etc.

I highly recommend you to use OpenStack Kolla project [0], Kolla's mission is exacly what you what to achieve in a consistent manner.

Kolla’s mission is to provide production-ready containers and deployment tools for operating OpenStack clouds

Also, Kolla has quickstart methods to deploy your environment for development/testing purposes through vagrant VMs.[1]

If you want to lookup for another projects, you have OpenStack Ansible, which use LXC containers instead of Docker [2]

Great, thank you guys...Kolla project and production-ready containers seems to be exactly what I was looking for.
