I'm using RHEL srever. I'm able to enable the volume service but not able to start it."Failed to initialize driver" error found in cinder-volume.log. status of the cinder-volume service is down.

Here is the error when I check for the status of volume service.

openstack-cinder-volume.service - OpenStack Cinder Volume Server Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/openstack-cinder-volume.service; enabled; vendor preset: disabled) Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since Mon 2016-06-06 19:33:12 IST; 16h ago Process: 36368 ExecStart=/usr/bin/cinder-volume --config-file /usr/share/cinder/cinder-dist.conf --config-file /etc/cinder/cinder.conf --logfile /var/log/cinder/volume.log (code=exited, status=1/FAILURE) Main PID: 36368 (code=exited, status=1/FAILURE)

if you are using cinder backend other than lvm make sure you have entry into cinder.conf use grep enabled_backend /etc/cinder/cinder.conf and if you have other backend like rbd then make an entry after lvm,rbd and also check if you have mentioned correct volume driver information into cinder.conf file grep volume_driver driver /etc/cinder/cinder.conf Restart all cinder related service again.

I have tried all these but still service is down. In cinder.conf file i have included below informations aswell. enabled_backend=lvm volume_driver = cinder.volume.drivers.lvm.LVMVolumeDriver
