Hi,

I configured my openstack liberty environment into vmware with two different networks, a public one and a private one.

I followed the official documentation for liberty in ubuntu (http://docs.openstack.org/liberty/install-guide-ubuntu/ (http://docs.openstack.org/liberty/ins...) (http://docs.openstack.org/liberty/ins...)) (http://docs.openstack.org/liberty/ins...), but i had the same problem with kilo and mitaka.

The network configuration I applied is the flat network one.

The main functionalities works properly. I can deploy new instances, create volumes (empty and based on an image), and i can reach the instances from my public network.

My main problem now is that i can't make the metadata-agent work properly.

When i run an instance into my network, it can't reach the metadata ip:

2016-05-28 17:38:00,087 - url_helper.py[WARNING]: Calling 'http://169.254.169.254/2009-04-04/meta-data/instance-id' failed [50/120s]: request error [(<urllib3.connectionpool.httpconnectionpool object="" at="" 0x7fef57225890="">, 'Connection to 169.254.169.254 timed out. (connect timeout=50.0)')]

I tried with several options, removing the default gateway, changing the default gateway to the ip of the dhcp port into my network, configuring static routes into my subnet... and nothing works.

Can someone give me a hand to troubleshoot this?
