should hostname be unique in multi-compute-nodes environment?

I have deployed a 3 nodes OpenStack by packstack(one controller + two compute, kilo), and the two compute nodes have the same hostname.

But I can only see one host by "nova hypervisior-list". And through "nova hypervisor-show", i can see the ip changed between the two compute nodes alternatively.

Is it because the same hostname?

I'm a little bit confused:) . Do you mean that the hostname should be unique? Thanks.

No need to set the Host name in same for all node .but its better to set FQN (fully qualified name) for all the node and /etc/hosts entry if u not done than also hyper visor list is show on openstack. may any thing goes wrong in packstack file.

Ex: http://controll.cloud.com http://compute1.cloud.com http://compute2.cloud.com
