How to ensure that each instance uses the disk of its host?

Hi,

I have a set of nodes and each of them is simply compute node + storage node. I don't have the cluster nodes solely for storage.

I want to make sure that if a vm 1 is running on a compute node A, then the vm 1 uses the disks attached on the node A. (I want it not to consume network I/O bandwidth for disk write operations.)

Many thanks for any helpful information.

***********************************************************
Update /etc/cinder/cinder.conf
***********************************************************
First entry id [DEFAULT] section

################
enabled_backends=lvm51
################

At the bottom of file add

[lvm51]
iscsi_helper=lioadm
volume_group=cinder-volumes51
volume_driver=cinder.volume.drivers.lvm.LVMISCSIDriver
iscsi_ip_address=192.169.142.157
volume_backend_name=LVM_iSCSI51

Cinder type lvms is bind to volume_group=cinder-volumes51 which is located on 192.169.142.157

[root@ip-192-169-142-157 ~(keystone_admin)]# cinder type-create lvms
[root@ip-192-169-142-157 ~(keystone_admin)]# cinder type-key lvms set volume_backend_name=LVM_iSCSI51

Creating LVM for particular VM on Compute1 select cinder-type associated with volume-group created on Compute1.

@dbaxps thanks for your help. how about when I use the ephemeral storage? Does it use the local disk of the compute nodes by default?
