Hi I'm looking for an easy to understand tutorial on how to install Openstack using 2 machines.

I have already read this one but obviously the tutorial is for 3 machines.

To keep it simple, start with devstack. Run your controller on one machine and make the second on ea compute node (where you create VMs). Simplest way is to download and run devstack on one machine. Follow the steps below to make the second one a compute node.

Controller node: edit /etc/nova/nova/nova.conf, add multi_host=true

On compute nodes: edit /home/stack/devstack/localrc, set

SERVICE_HOST=<controller IP>

now, if you run nova-manage service list on the controller you should see compute node added.

If you are looking for a long answer then it all depends on why you want two machines in your Openstack. What services you want to run and where/why?

Is there any advice if I want to install controller+ network(neutron) into one node, and compute into other nodes. Actually, I want to have a test how juno can support xen server and kvm in one openstack cluster
