Hi,

we running a Juno installation of OpenStack with 1 Controller node, 1 Neutron node, 2 Object node, 1 Block node and 9 Compute nodes. We now want to upgrade out installation to Liberty. I already read that this process had to be incremental Juno -> Kilo -> Liberty as far as I understood it.

Is there any "best practice"-guide how to do this and to avoid loosing data in the process?

Kind regards, Michael

The best practice is build a parallel environment, migrate your workloads to newly built environment using CloudFerry. Upgrade the old environment to newer release and bring the workload back.

Thanks for your reply. This is sure a good solution if you have the space to build up a parallel environment. If your environment is large (e.g. 1000+ compute Nodes) I don't think this would be a good solution. Is there an offical guide for an in-place update from OpenStack somewhere?
