When I ran DevStack on my Compute node, script seems to work fine, but in my "n-cpu" Screen terminal I got this error:

IncompatibleObjectVersion: Version 1.2 of InstanceList is not supported

It seems that reinstalling everything on a fresh machine solved this issue... It's a bit disappointing...

I'm equally interested to solve this. Do you have old system still ? Can you compare /nova/objects/instance.py in both the boxes?. Search for InstanceList and see what is the value of VERSION ? Does it say 1.1 or 1.2 ?

I'm sorry dheeru, I deleted the old VM and began from a backup...

You are the second person to report this issue. I looked at the source code and was eager to see how dev-stack is getting into this issue. It may be downloading new blob and entering into this issue ? Anyway I will close this request.

I also just ran into this today: 620348f - (HEAD, origin/master, origin/HEAD, master) Merge "Add unit test for ListOfStrings field in object models" (Fri Jan 3 17:02:21 2014 +0000) <jenkins> 554 class InstanceList(base.ObjectListBase, base.NovaObject): 559 VERSION = '1.2'

A quick follow-up: I resolved this in my environment by unstacking. I noticed quite a few nova processes still running. I manually killed those, restacked, and nova started up fine.
