Can I get system quotas in dashboard automatically?

asked 2016-02-25 08:27:45 -0500

I have done an OpenStack Juno installation on Ubuntu 14.04.

I already know how to update the default quotas through command line and dashboard, but I want to know, whether it is possible for OpenStack to pull the system defaults automatically.

Can anybody help me out at this point?

If you want Openstack to show the nova nodes total CPU and RAM, it is not possible. The quotas you specify for each project is a logical entity. You can assign 100 vCPUs, 200 GB RAM quota to a project even if your available CPU and Memory is 2 CPU and 2 GB RAM. But when you try to launch a big VM in the above example, scheduler will throw a 'No valid host found' error. Also in a real time environment where there are 1000 projects, each project can't have a system quota. That should clear your doubt.
