Hello,

For some reasons, I want to disable all OpenStack services on all participating node (Controller, Network, Compute). Technically, I want to prevent all the related services from starting up when the system boots up, but leave the door to enable these again the other day.

I could perhaps simply write a bash script that does something like 'service nova-compute stop' and so on, but is there any way better than stopping the services after letting them start up?

Thank you!

Hi,

the easiest way is using openstack-service command provided by openstack-utils package.

An example: This command will disable all openstack services from boot

openstack-service disable

This will disable all swift services from boot

openstack-service disable swift

This will stop all services

openstack-service stop

This one will stop all swift services

openstack-service stop swift

Regards

Use 'systemctl disable nova-compute' to prevent the service starting up after booted.
Use 'systemctl enable nova-compute' to enable the service again another day.

Thank you. I suppose that applies for RedHat only? I'm using Ubuntu, what's the equivalent command?
