Hi guys, Is there any way from CLI to know what's the version of current Cinder drive (Liberty, Kilo etc.) and also what's the release number of it?

I want to write a script that runs and tells me basically if there's a newer release for my distribution (RHOSP for example) for the same Cinder version I use at the moment.

But is it possible to know, while running, if there's a newer version out there?

Cinder has multiple services, if installed correctly they should be all same versions:

To get version number from CLI:

cinder-api --version
cinder-volume --version

To match version number with name you can use this as a reference:

Now how to check if there is an update available, depends on your distro and repo which you are using.
