Hi ,

At present, I am using commercial RHEL OSP but I am planning to use RDO based Openstack without reinstalling the entire setup. Since I have VMs running in production!

Is there any possible way to upgrade my Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform to an RDO based OpenStack?

Thanks,

Vinoth

The answer the other direction is here: https://ask.openstack.org/en/question... (Yes, I know that's not what you're asking.)

Technically, you can but it's not supported at all.

You'd need to reinstall every openstack packages using RDO repositories, and as any upgrade, you'd have to temporarily put offline nodes being migrated.

I won't recommend this as:

RHEL-OSP includes downstream patches that are not in RDO (RDO is closer to upstream releases)

If you're migrating to the same openstack release, it may requires some manual tweaking

RHEL-OSP upgrade path may slightly differ from RDO as there are small differences in the packaging.
