I am installing RHEL OpenStack Platform 7 with 1 controller and 1 compute nodes.

I installed undercloud.

I ran the command to deploy overcloud and it failed with the below error message:

Stack failed with status: Resource CREATE failed: Error: resources.ComputeAllNodesValidationDeployment.resources[0]: Deployment to server failed: deploy_status_code: Deployment exited with non-zero status code: 1 ERROR: openstack Heat Stack create failed.

So, I logged into overcloud controller node and observed the below points:

  1. mysql and rabbitmq are down
  2. Users, services, endpoints, etc are not created.

Overcloud Controller Node Error logs -

Overcloud Compute Node Error logs -

Heat command outputs -

How to debug and fix this issue?

Its hard to say, and might be two different issues.

The DB is down so I understand why you will see the issues in the 1st and 2nd links. What I'd want to see is the DB logs or anything from /var/log/messages that can help identifying why the DB went down all of a sudden. Personally I had issues with the DB as well but that was related to working with small nodes. If you can spare the RAM, I'd try with at least 6GB RAM + some SWAP just to make sure its not RAM related.

The issue from the 3rd link is a propagation of the actual exit code of the command that was trying to be run the node. If it is possible, I'd want to see (stdout/err) of what happens if you ran the same command on the same node manually.

Intel cards in my overcloud nodes are not connected. So, post deployment failed.

The deploy works fine once the cards are connected.
