nova boot fails.. I've set up Liberty in Ubuntu. followed all the docs.openstack.org online. my config: 2 x ESXi connected by local switch which is connected to my router (provider net): controller (Ubuntu host) is on 1 ESXi, compute (Ubuntu host) is on another ESXi. controller has Keystone, MQ, Neutron, Ceilometer, Horizon compute has only Nova ... all the commands after install (nova image-list, flavor-list, neutron net-list etc) and Horizon are working just fine, when I'm trying to launch instance i'm getting this error:

BadRequest: Expecting to find username or userId in passwordCredentials - the server could not comply with the request since it is either malformed or otherwise incorrect. The client is assumed to be in error.

attaching nova-api.log is not allowed...

you can edit your question and quote the most interesting parts of nova log or keystone logs... keep on debugging and adding details to the question.

Please check your nova.conf and glance.conf for [keystone_authtoken] section and check if everything is fine over there. Ideal parameters would be as follows:

[keystone_authtoken]
auth_uri = http://controller:5000/v2.0
identity_uri = http://controller:35357
admin_tenant_name = service
admin_user = nova
admin_password = XXXXXXXXXXXX

If there are any other parameters apart from them, see if the values against them are valid. Change the configuration files and see if that resolves your issue.

hi Bharath, thank you for your answer. this is Liberty version of OpenStack I'm using. there's no link to 2.0 any more, API ver 3.0 as I understand. I tried your suggestion anyway and it won't run any commands like nova image-list, glance image-list etc...

can you try to boot with --debug option and paste the output which might give some clues?
