I have a setup of Juniper Contrail version 2.21 (Build 102) with Openstack Icehouse runing on a single Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS VM server. After installation, I downloaded the test image cirros-0.3.4-x86_64-disk.img to test the instance launching and added from Openstack GUI. I also made a network to attach to the instance. However whenever I try to launch the instance, it gives an error:

Error: The server has either erred or is incapable of performing the requested operation. (HTTP 500) (Request-ID: req-ee525358-5485-4ec6-8a7a-ddb1c2c0ee5d)

Error: Unable to launch instance named "test".

Please help!

Regards, Prakhar

its not possible to trouble shoot unless you provide more infor. Try to boot the instance with --debug option, which will give you more info about the error. Also, check all the services are up nova-manage service listneutron agent-list

Hi Bipin, Thankyou so much for responding. Actually, I was trying to launch the instance via GUI. There is no debug option there. Do i have it to do from cli? What command do we need to launch it from cli with debug option enabled?

Also to answer your question, nova-manage service list appears to be up and ok . However neutron agent-list command says something like "You must provide a username via either --os-username or env[OS_USERNAME]"

I looked further into the logs and found this in nova-api.log: GlanceConnectionFailed: Connection to glance host failed: Error communicating with [Errno 110] ETIMEDOUT

Hi Bipin, I found that my keystone services were not running properly. I restarted them and it worked fine. Thank you so much for the help and concern! :)
