Packstack br-ex

Hello,

I'm new to openstack and I'm currently using packstack to provision 2 Openstack nodes. I'm using CentOS 7.1.

When I run packstack, after ifconfig, I can clearly see a br-ex device, but no ifcfg-br-ex file under /etc/sysconfig/network-script; and when I reboot the machine, after ifconfig, br-ex disappear.

As I understand, br-ex is used to make the link between real NIC (ex. eth0) and internal network.

Is it normal that packstack don't create a ifcfg-br-ex file ? Do you have any manual explaining how to properly configure br-ex with one physical NIC to allow floating IP addresses be associate to VMs ?

Take a look at this post https://www.linux.com/community/blogs...
Just ignore all DVR tuning steps and focus on 3(2) node deployment and br-ex configuration ( you have to do it only on controller ).

[root@vfedora22wks network-scripts(keystone_demo)]# cat ifcfg-br-ex
DEVICE="br-ex"
BOOTPROTO="static"
IPADDR="192.168.1.45"
NETMASK="255.255.255.0"
DNS1="83.221.202.254"
BROADCAST="192.168.1.255"
GATEWAY="192.168.1.1"
NM_CONTROLLED="no"
TYPE="OVSIntPort"
OVS_BRIDGE=br-ex
DEVICETYPE="ovs"
DEFROUTE="yes"
IPV4_FAILURE_FATAL="yes"
IPV6INIT=no

[root@vfedora22wks network-scripts(keystone_demo)]# cat ifcfg-enp3s0
DEVICE="enp3s0"
ONBOOT="yes"
TYPE="OVSPort"
DEVICETYPE="ovs"
OVS_BRIDGE=br-ex
NM_CONTROLLED=no
IPV6INIT=no

Then

 $ sudo chkconfig network on
 $ sudo systemctl stop NetworkManager
 $ sudo systemctl disable NetworkManager
 $ sudo reboot
