Default instance configuration

When creating instances through the Openstack UI is there a way to configure the default settings that every instance will have? For example if I want every instance created to always use an IDE hard drive rather than VirtIO, is that possible?

I am running Openstack Grizzly on RedHat with KVM as the hypervisor.

Thanks, -ghost

There's not a direct way to configure settings, but you might be able to achieve this by configuring groups of compute nodes with distinct settings and then placing those groups into Host Aggregates. From there, you can link the HA to a flavor. Upon booting an instance, you can choose the specific flavor.

The options you would have available can be found here:

http://docs.openstack.org/havana/config-reference/content/list-of-compute-config-options.html

Note that not all options are applicable -- just the ones related to nova-compute and the hypervisor(s) you are using.

I know this isn't the best answer, but I hope it'll at least point you in a good direction.
