I was wondering if it is feasible to install a vSphere environment implementing the Cisco 1000v Virtual Switch and make it interact with Neutron so that users can create network from the Horizon UI without the need of making a full implementaion of VMware NSX.

As far as I can tell Cisco 1000v supports VLAN as backend in its free flavor and VXLAN in the Advanced Edition.

The interesting point of using Cisco 1000v is that it is supported with Hyper-V, KVM and vSphere so having a common technology on all environments can be an advantage since I can't use OVS with vSphere.
