application metrics expression in monasca

Hi.

I was working with the docker demo for monasca and trying to connect to statsd daemon inside container from python monasca-statsd client.

The statsd client was executing without any errors and seemed it was able to connect to monasca-statsd daemon (on 8125 port) inside container (I mapped container 8125 port to host 8125 port/udp). How can I make sure it was able to send the metrics to monasca-statsd daemon?

Also, I would like to create an alarm definition with expression having metrics I sent from statsd client. Is there any way to create custom alarm definition expression with application metrics? Could you please let me know how to create the expression with application metrics?

Thanks & Regards, Sourav

Yeah, it's pretty much possible both through the rest-api as well as CLI. This should help: https://github.com/openstack/monasca-...

I think by default the monasca-threshold evaluates the expression every minute to see if the alarm state to be adjusted.
