We are currently running 2 environment parallely,

1) proxmox as Hypervisor + Ceph cluster-1 as backend storage.

2) Openstack + ceph cluster-2 as backend storage.

How can I boot VM in openstack environment from an image which is created in Ceph cluster-1 with Proxmox.

Hi,

As i know, there is no way to launch instances from an image stored in a location that isn't a backend for glance. You have to create the image in glance who stores the image in his backend(in your case ceph-cluster-2), then you can create an instance with that image, in the other case, glance will never know the details about the image and where is located, for that simple reason you cannot launch an instance with that image.

Thanks Eduardo. I got it. Can I just copy image from ceph cluster 1 to ceph cluster 2 , for creaing a image in glance? Or There are some other ways where I can play with metadata and compression then I can copy image from ceph-cluster 1 to ceph-cluster2 before uploading that to glance?
