I learn that Openstack use Fractal plus Message queue to do load balancer(spread tasks to multiple workers). Then I'm thinking how to compare it to regular hardware ADC.
As my understanding, regular hardware based ADC is used for high throughput environment, it can deliver tasks to different real servers based on some simple or complicated rules(like sticky for shopping cart). For Fractal, the controller part is just running on an instance, it is responsible for receiving request and forwarding requests to workers, I doubt this structure can work well for really high performance, and I doubt it can do complicated forwarding rule(sticky shopping cart case).

Am I right?

Or in other way, Openstack can still work with ADC in some way? Will ADC still be useful in future cloud(data center)? somebody claims future cloud could only have regular server, I'm thinking if that could be true.

Thanks for looking at the tutorial!

Many OpenStack clouds and applications running on them use Application Delivery Controllers (ADC) as well, so don't worry :)

However, recently, ADCs and other specialised networking devices are facing a challenge known as Network Function Virtualisation (NFV). You might be interested in reading more about this topic.

The tutorial itself is a starting point; just one particular example architecture that tends to work well for simple applications (even at some degree of scale - quite a few large distributed applications use a message bus). When your application becomes more complex, it is important to perform some analysis on the best way to deliver them.

I hope that helps!
