Is it possible to have a large pool of compute resources combined as one unit. details are below

I have multiple hardware machines specifically for compute, but the problem is that every machine is smaller in capacity like 4 GM RAM , 4 cores and 500 DB Disk, but my requirement is to deploy instances with more resources than that.

Can I consolidate multiple hardware to be used as one single unit and then decide to use them as per my requirement.

Do you have empty memory slots && SATA sockets in your boxes ?

Not possible with native KVM unless you wanna do it yourself, the closest you would come to such a solution would be to use the VMware vCenter driver for Nova and have all your compute nodes running the VMware hypervisor and add them all to a cluster, this however would require shared storage for your VMware nodes however you would get complete failover and HA etc.

Another way would be if you did some scripting to evacuate instances from down nodes automatically to another compute node. Best regards

No, AFAIK it is not possible to spawn an istance resting on more than one compute node.
