Hi, I'm having problems with Nova since I've configured nova-api to use https via Apache. I have a working test environment set up using the OpenStack Guide for Ubuntu 14.04 [1]. Now with SSL enabled, some things don't work anymore. I'm using the Python script from [2] and the Apache configuration [3].

nova service-list shows all services as enabled and up.

nova image-list works

What does not work is basically anything regarding instances (nova start, nova interface-detach,...). nova-list shows the instance as Status SHUTOFF and Power State Shutdown. When I try to start it I get the following error:

Error (Client Exception): The server has either erred or is incapable of performing the requested operation. (HTTP 500)

Does anyone happen to know what the problem could be?

UPDATE Error in /var/log/apache2/nova.log This is what happens when I issue the command nova start demo-instance1: However I have no idea what to make of that error:

Caught error: local variable 'e' referenced before assignment

The other logs are fine, no related errors.

Is there any suspicious log at nova?

There is an error in the nova-api log of apache. All the other logs are fine. I've updated the question with details on the error. I have no idea though what the cause of that error could be.
