Hi, in Openstack Kilo the nova scheduler works on demand or periodically?

I see the video about "Enhancing OpenStack Projects with Advanced SLA and Scheduling " during the last Openstack Summit and I understand that the list of available hosts is updated only when a new compute request is arrived.

So, in OpenStack manual I see this instruction: "scheduler_driver_task_period = 60" and I don't understand if this instruction is for CachingScheduler, and not for FilterScheduler, or it is for FilterScheduler.

Thanks to all.

I understand that this option is for host discovering tasks. When a new request is made, nova- scheduler will check available hosts at cache and then, will filter where to run the new instances over the cached hosts.
