storage hardware for openstack PoC
Research into OpenStack got me excited about the product and want to build a PoC in my home lab to gain hands on experience with the product.
I have some old h/w available:
P Proliant DL360 G5 Dual Core Xeon 3.0Ghz 4GB DVD 2x 72GB IBM x3850 M2 4U Server - 4x Xeon X7350 2.93Ghz QC, 128GB RAM, 4x 73GB, RSA II
For my proof of concept use I plan to initially run about 10 VM instances, using up to 200GB storage including Windows Server, Windows Client, Linux, etc.
Being more a software person then hardware guy, I am looking for advice on hardware storage devices to look for, or what to avoid. I am looking to buy 2nd hand/refurbished less than USD$1000 that can be expanded over time. I am hoping to simulate the type of hardware that may be used in actual production scenarios. This storage will be used for Cinder.
