Hi,

I installed OpenStack Juno following the next guide over Ubuntu Server 13.04: http://docs.openstack.org/juno/install-guide/install/apt/openstack-install-guide-apt-juno.pdf (http://docs.openstack.org/juno/instal...)

Everything looks fine, but my nova-compute service state is down, and there's an ImportError from oslo.config when I try to execute it with the next command:

sudo python /usr/bin/nova-compute --config-file /etc/nova/nova.conf

The error:

   Traceback (most recent call last):
   File "/usr/bin/nova-compute", line 6, in <module>
   from nova.cmd.compute import main
   File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/nova/cmd/compute.py", line 22, in <module> oslo.config
   ImportError: No module named config

I tried to reinstall oslo.config but the error is stil there. I grep oslo.config in the pip list and the module it's there.

Do you have any idea what the problem is?

Thanks,

I had a similar problem today. The actual problem was the oslo-config version I was using. My oslo version was 1.4 (around) and I needed to be greater or equal to 2.3. Once I updated the oslo-config version, things became alright.

You may need to scan your repos and see if there are any other repos providing you the oslo-config packages (which are older) other than the Openstack repos.

Hope this helps. Sudipto

Can you check is your oslo.config in python path. you can try manually importing oslo.config on python terminal to cross check.

I exececuted :

root@computeOS:/usr/bin# python -m oslo.config
/usr/bin/python: No module named oslo.config

I tried to importing the module manually as follow:

sudo python /usr/bin/nova-compute --config-file /etc/nova/nova.conf -c "import oslo.config"

And the error is still there.
