initially I installed the Openstack Kilo release by following the OpenStack Documentation Set where gre is the default type of the tenant network type in /etc/neutron/plugins/ml2/ml2_conf.ini as

root@network:/etc/neutron/plugins/ml2# egrep -v "^$|^#" ml2_conf.ini
[ml2]
type_drivers = local,flat,vlan,gre,vxlan
tenant_network_types = gre
mechanism_drivers = openvswitch
[ml2_type_flat]
flat_networks = external
[ml2_type_vlan]
[ml2_type_gre]
tunnel_id_ranges = 1:1000
[ml2_type_vxlan]
[securitygroup]
enable_security_group = True
enable_ipset = True
firewall_driver = neutron.agent.linux.iptables_firewall.OVSHybridIptablesFirewallDriver
[ovs]
local_ip = 10.0.1.21
bridge_mappings = external:br-ex
[agent]
tunnel_types = gre
root@network:/etc/neutron/plugins/ml2#

now, the requirement is to change this to VLAN so that I can distribute the L2 broadcast to an external device.

Is it Ok to change the "tenant_network_types" parameter to VLAN from gre and then restarting the network node or what..

any suggestion....

Regards, Nasir
