There is some issues with Rabbit MQ

root@controller:~# rabbitmqctl status | grep rabbit
Status of node rabbit@controller ...
Error: unable to connect to node rabbit@controller: nodedown


nodes in question: [rabbit@controller]

hosts, their running nodes and ports:
- controller: [{rabbitmqctl5608,43390}]

current node details:
- node name: rabbitmqctl5608@controller
- home dir: /var/lib/rabbitmq
- cookie hash: /4hS1MCNXD87nusVne3H0Q==

root@controller:~# neutron ext-list
Unable to establish connection to http://controller:9696/v2.0/extensions.json
edit retag flag offensive close merge delete


  1. Check if rabbitmq-server is running or not.
  2. I believe it's not running . start the service and let us know.

Please verify below things:

  1. hostname of your controller node is same in '/etc/hostname' and '/etc/hosts'.
  2. Make sure you have only single entry of your hostname in '/etc/hosts' like below:

root@controller:~# cat /etc/hosts controller

  1. if currently settings are not as above then you may need to uninstall/purge rabbitmq once and reinstall it.

Give it a try..:)

I have verified everything looks fine, Im facing this issue after adding steps for Compute & Neutron

root@controller:~# cat /etc/hostname controller root@controller:~# cat /etc/hosts localhost controller ubuntu

Uninstalling installing it again also throwing same error

Hi Ram.meena Thanks for you help, It worked for me i fixed it my own The problem is Rabbit MQ didn't removed properly, so i used the below command and installed it again it worked for me apt-get remove --purge rabbitmq-server
