centos root password

hi,.

is there any possible method to change or update the root password for centos6 QCOW2 image.

I'm able to login to the image using ssh key, but neither centos user's password nor root password work...any help

Set password for user:

#passwd root

#<\enter-your-new-root-passwd>

#<\confrim-your-new-root-passwd>

Then enable the root login & password auth in /etc/ssh/sshd_config file by uncommenting this 2 lines:

PermitRootLogin yes

PasswordAuthentication yes
