Hi,

I am a newbie and interested to know about open stack. And was trying to understand the Grizzly configuration and have few queries.

https://github.com/mseknibilel/OpenStack-Grizzly-Install-Guide/blob/OVS_MultiNode/OpenStack_Grizzly_Install_Guide.rst (Grizzly Multinode conf)

Can anyone please let me know

  1. what does compute , controller and Networking node is for?

  2. In which node does the VM resides?

  3. Why is volume group created?

  4. Why there is a bridge between the compute and Networking node?

  5. If a VM needs internet access.. how is it routed?

  6. How does floating IP used to access internet?

  7. Is there any flexibility to write a security plug-in in KVM?

  8. What are the supporting API’s that I need to look for?

absolutely: the mailing lists I suggest are either the General list or the Operators list. You'll find the addresses and instructions to join them on http://wiki.openstack.org/MailingLists.

Deploying Openstack is very flexible. It can be deployed in a single VM to multiple baremetal systems (or VMs) depending on your need and the use case. Typically, compute node hosts workloads. You can configure openstack services to run in a single instance or spread them across different nodes to achieve desired high-availability, performance and security needs.
