Where do I specify to load this driver? I know like with nova you specify to use the vmware driver in the nova-compute.conf ....

cinder.volume.drivers.vmware.vmdk.VMwareVcVmdkDriver

The documentation is only somewhat clear. Also do I specify the vcenter connection at? The cinder.conf file? or nova.conf (I already have it specified there)

I'm trying to make since of this less than finished help documentation:

http://docs.openstack.org/trunk/config-reference/content/vmware-vmdk-driver.html

After posting on the VMware Openstack forum I found the answer.

You must specify this in your cinder.conf file:

volume_driver = cinder.volume.drivers.vmware.vmdk.VMwareVcVmdkDriver

Plus the vmware connection parameters mentioned in the OpenStack Havana Reference manual which includes:

vmware_host_ip=
vmware_host_username=
vmware_host_password=
