Hi,

I made a typo error on the hostname of the host where i want to launch my vm instance

nova boot --flavor=1 --image=67311771-2633-45d5-8ff7-89b608a480f4 --availability-zone nova:fff.ba.infn.it ale

So, right now the vm instance is in ERROR state.

Is there a way to change the hostname of the server to the right one ?

thanks

Alessandro

Hi,

I'd already thought at this solution but I'd hoped in some a sort of update switch in the nova command. Anyway thank you for your short reply Bye

Simple solution would be to delete the instance and recreate the new one. It hardly takes 5 minute. Any reason you would like to change the hostname of existing instance. Since it is already in error state, it has not worked at all. So You can delete as well.

  1. nova delete <vm-name> or nova delete <instance-id></instance-id></vm-name>
  2. Create the new instance now using nova boot command
