Hello

I want to install OpenStack on my test server. Unfortunately, there are a few problems.... I have to use the manual of OpenStack: installing-openstack-overview

I arrived at point 5 in "Installing and Configuring the Identity Service". But when I try to start it crashes same again. When I use the command: service openstack-keystone status: he says: keystone dead, but PID-File exists

When I look into the file "/var/log/messages" it says me:

Apr 29 15:44:35 TestSRV1 abrt: detected unhandled Python exception in '/usr/bin/keystone-all'
Apr 29 15:44:35 TestSRV1 abrtd: New client connected
Apr 29 15:44:35 TestSRV1 abrtd: Directory 'pyhook-2013-04-29-15:44:35-16483' creation detected

Apr 29 15:44:35 TestSRV1 abrtd: 'post-create' on '/var/spool/abrt/pyhook-2013-04-29-15:44:35-16483' exited with 1

but in my opinion, Python runs because i have it reinstalled after I have seen the failure...

This week I found "PackSTack": PackStack This should install me OpenStack automaticly. But there I have also some fails... However, what surprises me, is that there Keystone runs...?

By executing the command packstack --allinone (according to the instructions) ther comes this fail:

ERROR : Cinder's volume group 'cinder-volumes' could not be created
Please check log file /var/tmp/packstack/20130503-080656-GBZ6En/openstack-setup.log for more information

In this Logfile I found:

2013-05-03 08:06:58::ERROR::run_setup::906::root:: Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/packstack/installer/run_setup.py", line 886, in main

File "/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/packstack/installer/setup_controller.py", line 77, in runAllSequences

There is again this python.. :(

My Testserver is an old HP ProLiant DL 380 G5 with 2x Intel Xenon 2.66 GHz Dual Core, 8GB RAM, and x64 OS. My OS is CentOS 6.4

Someone knows where the errors comes?

Never used packstack but looking at your error it seems it is trying to setup Cinder with LVM. It wants to create a volume-group called cinder-volumes.

Make sure you have LVM setup on your machine and it is possible to create a volume-group. There is some information about this here: http://docs.openstack.org/grizzly/openstack-compute/install/yum/content/cinder-install.html

Also the doc you references points to the Essex release which is quite a while ago. Please look at the grizzly documentation when using the rdo packages: http://docs.openstack.org/grizzly
