Glance image-delete problem with ceph backend [closed]

I have been using ceph as a backend for glance since icehouse. Now i am on kilo. When i first updated to kilo everything worked as expected.

But now every time i try to delete an image via dashboard or cli it just hangs. If i refresh the page i get deleted on the image but it is still present in ceph pool and in glance image-list.

I cannot even delete the image from ceph pool using rbd commands. Firstly it says the image has snapshots. When i try to delete the snapshot i get device protected. If i try to unprotect it, ceph hangs at unprotecting indefinetly.

Is it normal behaviour that every image i upload through glance in ceph to have a snapshot? I mean the direct url of the inage is something like rbd://clusterid/pool/image/snap

Glance-api and glance-registry are the same as back when it was working.

The only changes i have made to the system was to enable multi backend for cinder, cinder volume HA by providing the same host parameter and updating the system.

I am running on ubuntu 14.04, openstack version is kilo and ceph is hammer.

The funny thing is i can not get any errors from glance logs. Nada!

Any ideas on how to solve this?

Thank you!

I finally sorted it out. It was a ceph related problem. The cluster had 8 pgs stuck unclean for when radosgw created the pools and because of those 8 pgs i could not delete any glance image. After i managed to get the clusters health to OK status everything started to work as expected!
