preferably yes but you need to setup atleast keystone, nova api, database for nova and keystone to make the changes effective.

What changes you are planning to make in apis of nova-compute ?

there are some hypervisors which openstack support them such as KVM, Xen, hyper-v , etc. each of them has some features like lunch instance, resume and etc. but some features do not support by openstack. this link will show you the Hypervisor Support Matrix. http://docs.openstack.org/developer/nova/support-matrix.html (http://docs.openstack.org/developer/n...) first i want to know on which part of the openstack (actually nova-compute) code can i find the related code. second, as a test i want to write some codes that openstack supports some missing features.
