Hello, I want to launch an ubuntu instance into openstack but I need some graphical interactios so I need a desktop version. Following this tutorial: http://docs.openstack.org/image-guide/content/ubuntu-image.html (http://docs.openstack.org/image-guide...) I was able to adapt and install. In my local computer everything seemed right but launching it from the openstack it is just too slow and impossible to work, even if I give more RAM than I used locally. Can you help me finding why this is so slow? The guest image is ubuntu 14.04 and I'm using Openstack juno. Maybe using a desktop version I should make some steps before?

By the way, the instance is not getting IP to communicate. And with other operating systems such as cirros instances were getting IP.

Hypervisor is KVM. I'm using nova bootto launch the instance from the image.

Is the desktop guest relying on 3D instructions? If so most likely libvirt is not able to handle the instruction set. Can you try different distro and/or other graphical interface.

As far as I know I am not using any 3D instructions. Ubuntu just boot normally and if I try to do anything it is really slow. I will try a different distro. However, what do you mean by another graphical interface?

Most distros have multiple window Manager avaialbe.
https://wiki.debian.org/DesktopEnviro... Try one of the lighter ones such as xfce which is one of the much lighter ones.
