Hello,

I have OpenStack in production (HP Helion distribution).
My users are using a Marketplace on top of OpenStack. They don't have access to the API or the GUI. (It's not technical users)

I would like to monitor quotas for them. The idea is to send an email to the user when a quota is reached, and ask them to buy more "marketplace credits".

Obviously, OpenStack teams does not speak much together about quota management. To know quota usage for a tenant :

  • For cinder : cinder quota-usage <tenantid>
  • For nova : nova absolute-limits
  • For neutron : I can't find a quota usage command, only quota-show (does not display usage)

My question : How do you monitor quotas on production ? How do you know quota usage in neutron service ?
I hope nobody will answer with "| wc -l" command lines :)

Regards,

Pierre

You have the correct commands. There is no 'quota-usage' type command for neutron. You will need to count the resource usage yourself unfortunately.
