I am new to OpenStack and got my first host running. While reading the docs I found OpenDaylight but the only info I got were screenshots of visualized networks. Which benefits do I have if I run OpenDaylight and which Neutron-features are replaced?

SDN and NFV with OpenDaylight and it's partner-projects helps for a better network scalability and performance. OpenDaylight has a lot interesting features like DVR (distributed virtual router) and uses other projects like openFlow and openVswitch.

from the (OpenDaylight website):

For those looking to manage their networks using OpenDaylight, there is deeper integration with OpenStack, including significant improvements in the Open vSwitch Database Integration project, and a technology preview of advanced OpenStack features such as Security Groups, Distributed Virtual Router and Load Balancing-as-a-Service.
