i created stack list by using

controller-node@controller-node:~$ heat stack-create -f test-stack.yml -P "ImageID=cirros-0.3.3-x86_64;NetID=$NET_ID" testStack1

It gave me output :

|-----------------id----------------------------------|-stack_name-| stack_status |------------------creation_time------------- |

| 30e3d548-0efc-41fd-b43f-240efbc6c663 | testStack1 | CREATE_IN_PROGRESS | 2015-04-15T10:50:21Z |
+--------------------------------------+------------+--------------------+----------------------+

but when i check for stack-list --- by using command :

controller-node@controller-node:~$ heat stack-list

it gives me output :

|------------------ ----id -------------------------------| stack_name | stack_status | --------------creation_time |

| 30e3d548-0efc-41fd-b43f-240efbc6c663 ------| testStack1 | CREATE_FAILED | 2015-04-15T10:50:21Z |

i don't know why the status is failed. i tried it many times with different images but create_status is still the same

do i need to create a server group by myself before doing this or will it be created by its own ??

See what you get from the command:

heat stack-show testStack1

You should also check the /var/log/heat/engine.log and /var/log/nova/compute.log for any errors at the time you launched the stack.
