Subject : manual timer for instance shutdown or power off A user-case, which requires us to shutdown/power off an instance after a specific time interval. For example, I have a instance running [active state] on a compute node. I need my instance to stop working after r 5 hours or at 1400 CET. In that case my instance should automatically shut down / power without any manual interaction So that after 5 hours or 1400 CET, that instance should not use resources like RAM, vCPU. The main idea is we will set a timer during the instance's active, after that specific time nova will make that instance to go to power off state.

Is this kind of proposals have been completed or in pipeline ? I would like to raise a blueprint and spec on this.

As I am writing draft version of this ... would like to know all your views and comments.

That seems like something you would do with a management overlay program such as manageIQ. Part of the purpose of those types of products is to track manage use of resources.

I have installed that manageIQ in my open stack. I think they are completely providing a a new dashboard to control cloud services. It seems that they are providing alternative to open stack dashboard. May be I am wrong also. Yet to find the schedule timer for an instances in that.
