glance-api Connection Refused

asked 2015-03-25 11:51:43 -0600

I am trying to install Openstack on Ubuntu 14.04 using the individual packages from apt-get. This is mostly to learn each of the components, rather than do an automated install. However, I am having a nightmare with glance. I was hoping someone could please point me in the right direction?

I am getting the following error when trying to connect to glance:

glance image-list
Error communicating with [Errno 111] Connection refused

I get the same error when I try to access the api from a webbrowser.

I can see the glance-api and glance-registry services are running, but I am not able to see port 9292 listening when I run a netstat.

If I look into logs, I cannot see any error messages.

Where is the best place to start troubleshooting this issue? Keystone is working without any issues.

It'd be most helpful to actually see Glance's startup log. This can happen if Glance doesn't have permission to write to one or more of its subdirs (ie: things under /var/lib/glance/)

You can also check what port and IP Glance is trying to bind to - look at /etc/glance/glance-api.conf, in particular the bind_address and bind_port parameters.

Hi Tedlit,

Apologies for the delay in me getting back to you on this. The issue turned out to be package versions within ubuntu being an older version that the guide I was following.

I had to basically upgrade my packages to juno and re-configured the file. Everything then worked!

Glad to hear it's working - well done! :)
