Morning,

I have installed Openstack in a all-in-one for a single machine. Now that this is running, how do I add a server to operate as a compute and storage node? Just to be clear 192.168.1.5 is the controller, 192.168.1.15 is the node being added.

After following the local.conf suggestions I end up with this...

2015-03-06 15:57:48.298 | + create_volume_types
2015-03-06 15:57:48.298 | + is_service_enabled c-api
2015-03-06 15:57:48.302 | + return 0
2015-03-06 15:57:48.302 | + [[ -n lvm:lvmdriver-1 ]]
2015-03-06 15:57:48.302 | + local be be_name be_type
2015-03-06 15:57:48.302 | + for be in '${CINDER_ENABLED_BACKENDS//,/ }'
2015-03-06 15:57:48.303 | + be_type=lvm
2015-03-06 15:57:48.303 | + be_name=lvmdriver-1
2015-03-06 15:57:48.303 | + cinder type-create lvmdriver-1
2015-03-06 15:57:48.748 | ERROR: You must provide a user name through --os-user username or env[OS_USERNAME].
2015-03-06 15:57:48.779 | ++ err_trap
2015-03-06 15:57:48.779 | ++ local r=1
2015-03-06 15:57:48.779 | stack.sh failed: full log in /opt/stack/logs/stack.sh$

Hi john75077, have you managed to solve this problem? I encountered the exact same problem and cannot find the reason. The interesting thing is after I encountered this error, I can see this host in Hypervisors and instance can be created on it. If you have solved it, please kindly give some hints.

The devstack docs seem to have a good guide for this.

So you are saying that the section labeled 'Configure Compute Nodes' is all that's needed?

Seems like it on a cursory reading, yes.
