I have built an OpenStack cloud and want to be able to expand my object storage on a proactive basis. I am in need of how to tell how much of the current storage is in use and how much is still available at any given time.

Hi, run command swift-recon -h to check the options. You can use -d option to Get disk usage stats. For more information refer http://docs.openstack.org/developer/s...

Is there of this information in the GUI or only at the command line at the server console?

I know the command line one. I am not sure whether you can check from dashboard.
